Quality Engineer

Quality Engineer has responsibility to support operations in ensuring conformance to product quality and food safety requirements while promoting continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as primary contact for product quality issues from external customers and internal processes.
  • Leads Quality Leadership Team reviews for the plant.
  • Act as a decision-maker for disposition of nonconforming products as well as approval of customer claims for the plant.
  • Conducts training for production personnel as requested and writes procedures.
  • Performs Gauge RandR (Repeatability and Reproducibility) studies and serves as a resource for equipment calibration with the Quality Coordinator.
  • Performs random Product and Production audits.
  • Serves as a resource for QA inspection routing and purchase order entries as well as product specification updates and certificate of analysis reviews.
  • Participates in and leads projects and initiatives to standardize and continuously improve processes.
  • Present monthly quality complaints, topics, and training when necessary.
  • Actively participate in internal audit programs, including HACCP, BRC, and ISO-9001.
  • Gathers and organizes information required for a variety of meetings, audits, and claim investigations, including inspection of customer returned material and samples.
  • Performs trend analysis and supports verification of external and internal Corrective / Preventive Actions.
  • Provides statistical analysis in support of Quality Assurance efforts and improvements in the areas of; defect trends, complaint summaries, CpK machine analysis, material efficiencies and holds ticket summaries as appropriate.
  • Develops and supports Corrective / Preventive Action Plans that demonstrate proper Root Cause analysis. Help performs Validations on all Inspection and Test Equipment. Prepares and submits reports upon completion of validations.
  • Demonstrates safety, environmental, and food safety leadership by complying with all safety, environmental, and food safety rules, policies, regulations and procedures, participating in safety, environmental, and food safety programs, and encouraging employee involvement from all employees in all safety, environmental, and food safety activities.
  • Follows quality management system requirements for relevant activities.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Chemistry or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience in a high speed manufacturing environment is required.
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to make quick and appropriate decisions.
  • Proficient at multitasking and prioritizing work between supporting manufacturing in the plant and using business enterprise software such as SAP and OV for updating claims, rejects, and product test data.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of quality systems and solid working knowledge of processes and products. ISO-9001:2015 experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and interpersonal.
  • Projects a strong professional image and responsibility for satisfying the customer and meeting their quality requirements.
  • Well versed in statistics, detail oriented / able to interpret data.
  • Must be able to collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization and interact professionally with customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to deliver results with minimal local supervision is required.
  • Ability to travel < 15% as request d and/or required.
