C.H. Robinson Director Warehouse Operations in Plainfield, Indiana

C.H. Robinson is seeking a Director of Warehouse Operations based in our Plainfield, IN offices. In this role, you will lead the warehouse and consolidation field operations strategy across North America, including all warehouse services and real estate. Your responsibilities include prioritizing safety, enhancing employee engagement, improving accuracy, and driving the use of automation and technology for continuous improvement. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead warehouse operations strategies aligned with customer and carrier needs to achieve volume, revenue growth, and operating income targets

  • Use analytics to drive business decisions, enhance safety, employee engagement, quality, efficiency, and profitability. Manage key performance indicators within the network

  • Partner with IT and third-party technology teams to improve efficiencies within the distribution center network

  • Collaborate with commercial leaders to support go-to-market strategies, focusing on quality and efficiency to meet unique volume needs of warehouse customers

  • Continuously review and optimize warehouse structures for efficiency, scalability, and growth, including role definition and resource alignment

  • Accountable for the financial performance of warehouse operations, including budgeting and expense management

  • Oversee warehouse operations budgets, monitor financial reports and metrics, and adjust strategies and resources accordingly

  • Lead a multi-layered team across multiple locations, setting annual performance goals aligned with organizational objectives

  • Manage and develop direct and indirect reports through performance management, coaching, feedback, mentoring, training, and development tools

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in leadership roles within warehouse operations function

  • Minimum 5 years multi-DC people management experience

  • Ability to travel up to 50% to our DC network ​

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing financials for a large, warehouse segment

  • Ability to understand and communicate financial metrics, including P & L

  • Demonstrated success in managing programs related to process improvement and lean

  • Warehouse market and industry knowledge

  • Strong communication skills, proficiency presenting to internal and external audiences

  • Demonstrated negotiation, collaboration, and influencing skills

  • Experiential knowledge of the application of automation to improve operations
