NiSource Corrosion Tech 2-1 in Monticello, Indiana

Job Summary

This position is part of the Corrosion Technician job family and includes a progression to Corrosion Technician 2 with the achievement of NACE CP1 & Employee should be studying towards AMPP/NACE CIP1.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to accurately assess situations and make recommendations for all new and existing work.

  • Including corrosion recommendations for capital work, ability to identify and remediate interference (AC & DC), Ground bed design and construction theory, Data analyzing for predictive analysis of pipeline remediation, casing isolation testing, records research.

  • Application and understanding of utilized corrosion principles and theory. Ability to work on their own with little or no supervision.

  • Attends industry courses to gain knowledge.

  • Employee shall attend and have successfully pass all Underground Corrosion Short Courses.

  • Employee can understand what the cause of the remedial work is, the remedial work that needs completed and how the process is completed.

  • Employee makes the best decision to remediate the situation and sound design requirements that are in the best interest of NiSource Standard and the department.

  • Employee requires minimal supervision.

  • Acts on their own most of the time without direction from Supervisor.

  • Generally, a self-starter but may require some direction from Supervisor.

  • Takes on additional responsibility within the group.

  • Employee is helping other areas in compliance work, helping others in the group with their knowledge, offering suggestions for program improvements, and working extended hours as needed to complete tasks.

  • Employee is self-directing the work that needs completed, assessing, and accurately making recommendations for remedial work.

  • Employee can perform all work assigned by Supervisor and/or compliance schedules with little or no direction.

  • Employee consistently and proactively communicates work progress to Supervisor.

  • Able to communicate technical and complex topics to those outside the department in a manner that they can understand the impact and requirements to improve corrosion protection and system integrity.

  • Full understanding of NiSource Corrosion Standards and understanding of CFR 49 Part 192 Subpart I requirements.

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications For Position

  • Minimum Time in Job Classification: 2 Years as a corrosion field technician

  • Minimum 1 Certification: NACE CP1 &

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

$41.76 - $44.01
