The Large Power Systems Division currently has an opening for a Senior Engineering Project Team Leader on the Generator Packaging team located in Lafayette, Indiana . As a Senior Engineering Project Team Leader, you will have responsibility for the planning and execution of generator packaging development programs, supplier communications, CPI projects, ongoing maintenance initiatives, supplier mentoring team members and help manage team workload. Keys to success in this role are the ability to manage project plans, effectively communicate with process partners, and escalate issues as needed. You will manage the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay up to date on innovative technologies, mentor and coach team members, and deepen your professional network.

What you will do:

  • Lead global teams in the design of new products, processes, components, and systems

  • Provide technical guidance on product needs, analysis, and initiation of new ideas

  • Communicate results to global customers, suppliers, team members, and representatives from other business units

  • Complete projects on time and on cost

  • Acknowledge and raise customer’s and management’s awareness of trade-offs between time, resources and quality.

Interpersonal, leadership, and strong communication skills are required for this position. A significant role of this position involves working with people: facilitating cooperation and collaboration, clearly communicating project requirements and tasks while utilizing input from the team, translating information from the customer, management, and fellow team members. Project team leaders are often the voice of the team in meetings with multiple levels of management, suppliers and with the customer. Team leaders must develop a good network, which enables them to obtain the resources and cooperation needed to remove roadblocks, so that they can ensure the success of their team. Ever increasing skills in the role-based competencies of Managing Vision & Purpose, Decision making, and Negotiation are required.

Technical Excellence : Extensive Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

Influencing Through Expertise : Extensive Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.

Project Management : Expert Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Team Management : Expert Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.

Requirements Analysis: Extensive Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems : Extensive Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

Product Design and Development : Expert Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Technical Experience with Generators

  • Good communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Proven team leadership skills

  • NPI Program experience

  • Experience leading NPI, CPI and Cost Reduction projects with proven results

  • Strong working knowledge of NPI and APQP process

  • Ability to manage multiple programs and break down roadblocks to meet program objectives
