Robert Half Staff Accountant in Indianapolis, Indiana

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Indianapolis, Indiana. In this role, you will be part of our finance department, contributing to our financial operations by managing accounts payable and receivable, conducting bank reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, and creating journal entries. Your proficiency in Microsoft Excel will be crucial to your success in this role.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll and utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc.

• Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements

• Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles

• Coordinate and complete annual audits

• Provide recommendations

• Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions

• Meet financial accounting objectives

• Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions

• Review journal entries to ensure accuracy

• Perform monthly bank settlements

• Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts

• Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions

• Prepare documentation for external auditors Requirements • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations

• Familiarity with General Ledger management

• Ability to create and manage Journal Entries

• Experience in conducting Month End Close procedures

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must possess strong organizational and time management skills

• Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner

• Willingness to stay updated with industry trends and developments

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus but not mandatory.
