Position Summary

Position is responsible for the development, scheduling, coordination, technical support and evaluation of Production Arts program concert series and special events, technical support for various City/ County department/ agency events and the efficient and effective management of Production Arts fiscal resources, staff, interns, volunteers, partners, contract artists and equipment.

Position Responsibilities

Recruits, supervises, evaluates and manages the professional development of Production Arts staff, interns and volunteers.

Partners with the Arts Senior Manager to oversee the development and scheduling of the annual Production Arts schedule, including but not limited to performing arts series, movie series and special events.

Provides the necessary levels of technical support needed for Indy Parks and other City/ County department/ agency facilities, program series and special events.

Oversees strong communication with partners, contracted performance artists (or their representatives) and on-site park managers to ensure adherence to agreements and that all programs achieve optimal effectiveness.

Oversees the evaluation of Production Arts programs and services.

Manages customer service relations for Production Arts including all forms of communication with the public, processing of customer inquiries and complaints, training and monitoring staff, interns and volunteers related to customer service skills.

Oversees the writing and approval of contracts and partnerships for performance artists and agreements for film use, adhering to department timelines, policies and procedures.

Projects, monitors, tracks and adjusts spending to meet Indy Parks Arts goals.

Evaluates and facilitates needed improvements, repairs, or changes to Production Arts resources.

Oversees the purchasing of supplies, materials and equipment for Production Arts.

Works with the Parks Foundation, Arts Sponsorship Manager and parks Friends groups to identify new grant and sponsorship opportunities.

Ensures the marketing of Indy Parks programming at all performances and movies, utilizing information booths, social media, online community calendars, pre- and post-show announcements and other strategies.

Oversees the writing of all press releases, Fun Guide copy and other promotional materials for approval by the Arts Senior Manager.

Assists GPAC staff with the development, scheduling, implementation and evaluation of GPAC programs, exhibits, special events and outreach as needed.

Adheres to department policies and procedures; coordinates the training and monitoring of adherence to department policies and procedures for Production Arts staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and eight (8) years of managerial experience (or equivalent combination of education & experience) in Audio/Visual Production, Broadcast Production or related field. Computer skills to utilize applications for word processing, data management, purchasing, budgeting, program registration, facility reservations. General understanding of fiscal and personnel procedures and policy in the public sector. Ability to work productively under general supervision. Must be self-motivated and dependable. Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills. Must be customer service oriented. Prefer experience working in the public sector. Licenses/Certifications required: Ability to obtain and maintain Indiana Commercial Drivers License

Independent Judgment

The Production Manager is required to exercise significant independent judgment. Must possess the ability to recognize the need for intervention with any aspect of operation and notify the division administrator when applicable. Judgment decisions may significantly affect the fiscal, personnel or physical resources of the department. Interacts with the community, other divisions, departments and agencies, public officials and various city, state and local officials, in an independent atmosphere.
