Asphalt Materials, Inc Project Manager - Performance in Indianapolis, Indiana

This role will plan, direct, and coordinate activities concerned with performance improvement projects. The Project Manager will work within the performance team, partnering with the mobile and fixed equipment managers as well as operations leadership, to create comprehensive action plans for projects. This role will also support the performance team with data analysis, and playbook/ SOP creation.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for your own personal safety as well as maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities in collaboration with the operations team, engineering team and employees and assist in opportunity classification as improvement, just do it, 5S or kaizen events. Aid in entering these projects into Powersteering.
  • Train and support the team on continuous improvement projects, utilizing lean six sigma tools.
  • Coordinate and manage improvement projects associated with fixed, portable, and mobile equipment.
  • Partner with field leadership, focusing on plant equipment improvements with the goal of improving operating costs.
  • Evaluate potential roadblocks to the project and develop solutions to mitigate.
  • Complete project closeout process, including financial summary, and post project metric tracking.
  • Support production software (Ripple) usage with data entry, analytics, production planning and set creation.
  • Identify, create, and sustain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and playbooks to support the operations team with performance.
  • Promote and maintain safe working environment and ensure all safety regulations are met during project, this includes preparing bid documents, conducting site meetings, ensuring vendor compliance with MSHA and company safety standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors on supply of resources for projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business preferred or minimum 2 years in the mining industry.
  • Knowledge of aggregate mining operations, maintenance, and equipment (fixed and mobile) preferred.
  • Excellent skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Aggflow preferred.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • The ability to partner and effectively work with appropriate levels within the organization.
  • Strong relationship skills and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects while maintaining positive. relationships and operating in a high level of integrity.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Independent, confident thinker with a high comfort level with ambiguity.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • A valid driver's license (or the ability to obtain) and ability to remain qualified for company vehicle program.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have the ability to continuously stand or walk on level or uneven ground.
  • Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairways and incline catwalks.
  • Must have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at waist or knees.
  • Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work outside and withstand extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather.
  • This position will cover all operations within US Aggregates
