FFP Production Operator-Roasting & Grinding in Indianapolis, Indiana
Summary:
Roasting/Grinding operators are in charge of processing green beans in a safe, timely and quality manner by managing to use all personal skills and functions of an industrial size roaster and grinder.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Keeping Inventory and handling of green and whole roasted coffee beans
Calculation of batch weights with expected grinding loss
Set up and operation of industrial grinder and roaster
Transport of green and roasted beans with forklift
Grind coffee into super sacs by percentage specified on work order
completed regular quality checks by taking Ro-Tap samples and Agtron readings
Adjustment of grinder/roaster settings to achieve consistent grinds/roasts and meet specifications
operator must fill out production tickets accordingly
operator must fill out and turn in daily grind logs and all roast times and weights must be recorded in the roast log for every batch and an Agtron must be taken for every other batch roasted
At the end of the shift, the operator must fill out all necessary documentation and clean area including sweeping of the floor
operator must maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with Food Safety guidelines, procedures, rules and regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
Follow all Lockout/Tagout requirements as needed on individual grinder, chain-vey and ribbon blender along with safety procedures for the industrial roaster
Requirements
Good mathematical skills
Must be able to lift more than 50lbs safely
Forklift license
Must be able to work in noisy and hot environment
Good organizational skills
Good time management
Knowledge of industrial grinder set-up, operations and cleaning
Knowledge of industrial roaster set-up, operations and cleaning
Able to operate under pressure during roasting events
