Description Position Overview: A leading mid-size law firm in downtown Indianapolis is seeking a Legal Assistant/Intake Specialist to join their team. This position will serve as the first point of contact for potential clients and responsibilities include gathering initial information while providing support, ensuring clients feel heard and understood. Candidate must have the ability to listen with empathy and put callers at ease.

As a Legal Assistant focusing on intake for personal injury and sexual assault cases, you will play a critical role in our firm. You will be the first point of contact for potential clients, responsible for gathering initial information, providing support, and ensuring callers feel heard and understood. Your ability to listen with empathy and put callers at ease is essential in this role. Responsibilities: Conduct new client intake interviews via phone and in-person. Gather details about the incident, injuries, and any other relevant facts. Provide empathetic and compassionate listening skills to potential clients, ensuring they feel supported and understood. Document and input case details into case management database. Coordinate with attorneys and legal staff to ensure a seamless handoff of client information. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care. Follow up with potential clients to complete the intake process. Assist with scheduling clients for consultations and meetings for attorneys. Requirements Requirements: Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in a legal or customer service role, ideally handling personal injury or sexual assault cases. Psychology background preferred but not required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong listening skills and the ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion. Ability to handle sensitive and emotional situations with professionalism and care. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with case management software. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Bilingual abilities are a plus. Compassionate and empathetic demeanor. Excellent listener with the ability to make callers feel comfortable and at ease. detail oriented and respectful in all interactions. Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality. Patient and understanding, especially when dealing with distressed individuals.
