RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Fire Sprinkler Designer, you will:

  • Work with drawings and specifications of all disciplines to design fire sprinkler systems.

  • Regularly collaborate with other fire sprinkler design professionals and craft employees.

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships working with routine and repeat customers.

  • Conduct field surveys and work with sprinkler fitters to establish workable designs.

  • Read, analyze, and understand various NFPA codes and FM Global guidelines for fire sprinkler design and service.

  • Generate detailed fire sprinkler designs using Hydratec software.

  • Provide detailed submittals, meeting applicable codes and standards for reviews and approvals.

  • Obtain approvals by directly communicating with customers, AHJs, underwriter, local authorities, and construction managers.

  • Generate installation packages including material stock lists and fabrication lists.

  • Issue purchase orders and track project costs.

  • Routinely coordinate with general contractors, various trades, architects, and engineers.

  • Participate in regular project meetings for planning and scheduling.

  • Manage customer records including all project drawings, documents, and closeouts.

  • Learn to perform safety audits and perform at least one per week.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or business discipline preferred, or equivalent experience in field of fire sprinkler design and installation.

  • AutoCAD background including experience with Hydratec’s CAD, CALC, LIST, and Revit software.

  • Understanding of Navisworks for BIM coordination.

  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, adaptability to change, and prioritize tasks according to various schedules.

  • Advanced computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and technical aptitude to learn internal systems.

  • Strong service orientation, confident communication skills, and professionalism.
