Job Title: Operator Technician

Job Description

Seeking a 2nd shift Operator Technician with a pathway into becoming a Maintenance Technician. You'll start as a Finish Technician and will be responsible for setting up machines and being the first person to respond to machine malfunctions within a specific department. You'll partner with a Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot and repair issues, allowing you to grow and advance your skills. Additionally, you'll educate and guide other operators to avoid repetitive machine errors and monitor all equipment within your department. Professional communication skills are essential for responding appropriately to radio calls.

Responsibilities

• Set up finishing machines and respond to malfunctions.

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues.

• Partner with Maintenance Technicians to resolve complex problems.

• Educate and guide other operators to prevent repetitive errors.

• Monitor all equipment within the department.

• Respond to radio calls professionally and appropriately.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

• Basic understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

• Logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work overtime and in other areas when needed.

• Physical ability to maneuver 300-pound stain barrels using provided techniques.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Customer service mindset with strong communication skills.

• Basic understanding of electrical safety, including lockout/tagout procedures.

• Experience with machine operating and setup.

• Ability to work in a hot environment, with temperatures reaching up to 105°F during peak summer months.

Work Environment

This is a 2nd shift position, working Monday to Friday from 2:30pm to 11:30pm, with a $2/hour shift premium for off-shift hours. The work environment can get hot during summer months, with temperatures reaching up to 105°F, and the presence of paint and stain fumes. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and required for specific tasks. This is a physical job that demands both mechanical skills and physical endurance.
