Parkview North Hospital Neurodiagnostic Technician in Fort Wayne, Indiana

S ummary

Using specialized equipment, completes quality recordings for determining and localizing normal and abnormal electrical activity in the central nervous, autonomic, and peripheral nervous systems. Maintains high standard of patient care, professionalism and service excellence to patients, coworkers (including physicians) and visitors. Has the responsibility of providing direct patient care in a clinical and hospital setting, as well as ensuring timely completion of daily patient testing, accurate documentation of patient testing, and physical maintenance of clinical testing equipment. Works under the direct supervision of the clinic supervisor and a physician but is independent in the application of neurodiagnostic testing in all settings. Travels with physician/s to outreach clinics to complete testing as needed.

Education

High school graduate or equivalency test. Medical Terminology preferred, but not required. Associate Degree from a Neurodiagnostic Technology program preferred, but not required . Must have satisfactorily completed orientation to the department under the direction of a qualified coworker within six months.

Licensure/Certification

CPR Certified by the American Heart Association required. Neurodiagnostic Certification preferred, but not required. Other clinical certifications (ex. CMA) a plus.

Experience

One year experience as a neurodiagnostic technician preferred but not required; 6-12 months in healthcare setting preferred. Experience working with children preferred.

Other Qualifications

Must have strong communication and technology skills. Must be able to frequently lift 30-50lbs. Spelling, basic knowledge of anatomy (muscles, nerves, patient positioning, vestibular system, visual system); average mathematical skills; basic knowledge of electronics and instrumentation preferred.
