BAE Systems FAA Repair Specialist, Aftermarket Repair Station in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Job Description

Controls and Avionics Solutions provides flight and mission-critical products to more than 170 commercial and military customers around the world. CAS products include fly-by-wire flight controls, pilot controls (inceptor systems), full authority digital engine controls (FADEC), power management systems, flight deck systems, cabin management systems, weapon controls, autonomous flight systems, and mission systems for the world's most prominent commercial and military aircraftmanufacturers.

Come join our Aftermarket Team and make significant impacts in this role where you will be trained and developed and earn your FAA Repairman Certificate. In this role as an FAA Repair Specialist supporting our Aftermarket Teams you will be:

  • Performing final product review on Commercial Aircraft Engine Controls, Flight Controls, and Avionics Accessories.

  • Assuring the airworthiness of items being repaired, by oversight of the repair operations, inspections, audits, and accompanying documentation.

  • Reviewing the work folder (Routers, Purchase Order etc.) for completeness and conformance to the requirements of the Repair Station Manual.

  • Ensuring maintenance activities comply with approved technical documentation, component maintenance manuals, service bulletins, engineering orders, etc...

  • Approving hardware for Return to Service when the maintenance has been satisfactorily performed and documenting work performed on an Authorized Release Certificate 8130-3.

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of plans to ensure optimized quality level.

  • Recommending, developing and establishing process techniques.

  • Establishing controls to measure and improve productivity and product quality.

  • Identifying defect trends and providing feedback to address problems areas and recommending solutions.

  • Performing internal audits of the Repair Station.

  • Performing those functions delegated to him/her by the Chief Inspector, and as specified by CFR Part 145.

Note* This is a First Shift position with flexible start times and can offer potential off shift hours to accommodate one's work schedule Monday through Friday.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • 2 year electronics degree or equivalent experience

  • Perform final review of commercial products in the Repair Station

  • Experience interpreting technical documentation including customer requirements, maintenance manuals, engineering orders, service bulletins, electrical schematics, etc.

  • Act as an Authorized Release Delegate to issue 8130-3 release certificates for new parts used in the Repair Station

  • Familiarity with Oracle and Microsoft Office products

  • Participate in process improvements

  • Disposition work instructions

  • Become part of Aftermarket FAA Anti Drug Pool

  • Able to obtain FAA Repairman Certificate upon hiring

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • 4 year electronics degree or equivalent experience

  • FAA A&P Mechanic Certificate

  • Lean manufacturing and six sigma experience

  • Previous experience in an FAA Repair Station or Aviation Maintenance Environment

  • Previous experience in electronics manufacturing

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $50580 - $85950

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
