GENERAL FUNCTIONS

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day activities to achieve the established metrics and standards for safety, quality, production, customer service, and people management. The Production Supervisor is responsible for developing high-performing teams, being a change agent and continuous improvement, driving results, inspecting what is expected, and building a best-in-class working environment. Leads production teams to achieve daily goals and objectives. The scope of the role may vary based on various factors (e.g., span of control, volume, number of leads, and equipment and tools).

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enforces safety and compliance policies and procedures for a safe and compliant work environment.

  • Reviews daily production and quality goals by leveraging reports, data, and discussions with others.

  • Develops a daily plan to meet the metrics and key performance indicators.

  • Allocates resources to meet production and quality goals, such as staffing assignments and schedules. This includes collaborating with other departments regarding staffing needs.

  • Monitors daily production and quality progress by reviewing reports and data, observing the production floor, supervising employee performance, and inspecting production and quality progress.

  • Adjusts production and quality plans, as needed (e.g., revising schedules, reallocating employees to different areas, etc.) to ensure labor efficiency and production and quality goals are met.

  • Conducts the daily people management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Addresses complaints and resolves basic employee issues (e.g., teamwork, non-policy violations, payroll and benefits questions).

  • Ensures employees are following standard operating procedures and policies (operational, attendance, conduct, etc.).

  • Walks the floor to engage and check in with employees and observe production and quality progress.

  • Communicates performance goals and expectations and continuously updates the production team on performance and policies/procedures.

  • Builds and develops direct reports to ensure capabilities for executing operational strategies; this includes talent development practices (e.g., performance management and succession planning).

  • Ensures that there is an adequate distribution of skills to ensure the production and quality goals are met, including training and developing employees.

  • Fosters a positive work environment (e.g., teamwork, fairness, engagement) and ensures employees demonstrate the company’s values.

  • Improves production and quality, such as performing root cause analysis and leading improvement projects.

  • Partners with other Production Supervisors and departments (e.g., engineering and maintenance) to achieve the expected results and continuous improvements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma/G.E.D.

  • 3+ years of experience with leading others.

  • Demonstration of leadership skills and abilities.

  • Experience in a very high-volume environment with complex technical processes.

  • Proven track record of individual accomplishment, contribution, and team-based success.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in business or related field

  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
